Data & Reporting

Obtaining Data

While this site primarily displays air quality and meteorological data in chart form, you can access the underlying datasets in two ways:

  1. By Email
To request CSV, PDF, or other formats, please email pollution@swansea.gov.uk. Be sure to whitelist info.swansea.airqualitydata.com in your email settings so our files or replies don’t end up in your spam folder.

  2. Via Our API
For direct programmatic access, visit our Swagger documentation at swanseaairapi.igocode.com/swagger. You can:

    • Retrieve station details and metrics
    • Access calibration data over specific time ranges
    • Obtain running totals for Low, Moderate, High, and Very High readings

This option is ideal for developers, researchers, or anyone looking to integrate Swansea’s air quality data into their own applications or analyses.

Bridge

Access the Swansea Air Quality API

Integrate near real-time and historical air quality data into your own applications.

Data Timestamp (GMT)

All data is recorded and displayed in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). During British Summer Time, readings may appear one hour behind local time. For example, if you see “Last updated: GMT 26 Jan 2010 09:00,” that data represents the 09:00–10:00 hour. The next update reflects 10:00–11:00, and so on.

Air Quality Banding

We present air quality levels using a banded index (Low, Moderate, High, Very High) for clarity. You can view real-time banding for each station on our site’s charts. For a more detailed breakdown or numeric data, use the API or contact us directly.
